Challenge

The challenge was to install a shore power system that could accommodate the world’s largest cruise ships and provide them with 50/60 Hertz, as required by the ship. The goal was to achieve the EU target of shore power in all important European ports by 2025.

Solution

The solution was to build a shore power facility with a frequency converter that could provide the ships with both 50 and 60 Hz, depending on the ships demand. The system was integrated in a total of eight containers with a total capacity of 16 MVA complying with the international high voltage IEC 80005-1 standard.
