Challenge
To support the rapidly emerging offshore wind industry over the coming years; to deliver the scale of renewable energy capacity required to transform the region into a renewable energy powerhouse; to champion decarbonization and reduce emissions associated with port operations; to bring forward the development of the second container terminal at Port Kembla to cater for the state's shipping needs once Port Botany reaches its capacity.
Solution
To create berths and assembly areas on 40 hectares at Outer Harbour for wind turbine components; to collaborate with government, private enterprise, industry and community to deliver the infrastructure in time; to transition the facility into container terminals once the offshore wind projects have been installed.
