The upcoming seminar on the greening of port operations is set to take place soon, focusing on the advancements and potential in transforming port activities to be fossil-free. This event will center around the initiatives at the Port of Umeå, which is transitioning to sustainable energy sources like methanol, hydrogen, biogas, electricity, and ammonia.

Scheduled for 28 May 2024 from 10:00 to 15:00 at Umeå Harbour in Holmsund, the seminar will provide participants with opportunities to:

  • Delve into strategies for implementing fossil-free fuels.
  • Discuss necessary developments in capacity and investments.
  • Gain insights from the Port of Umeå's experiences in sustainability efforts.

The event will also offer networking opportunities with policymakers, academic figures, and representatives from the port and energy sectors. Organized by CLOSERse, IVL, Umeå Kommun, Umeå Hamn AB, Umeå Energi AB, and INAB-Infrastruktur i Umeå AB, it forms part of the Blue Supply Chains project. Funding for the Blue Supply Chains is provided by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region, with additional support from the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region & VASAB.
